Anisa Mehdi is an Emmy Award-winning journalist specializing in religion and the arts. She was a Fulbright Scholar in Jordan, mentoring professional broadcasters and teaching aspiring filmmakers. For over 20 years Anisa reported, directed and produced television news and documentary programs for mainstream American media outlets. She teaches documentary film at Seton Hall University. Anisa’s third film on the Hajj premiered on PBS in December 2014
Aaron has been living in the Middle East since childhood, leaving only for Journalism studies at University of Wisconsin Madison. Upon completing his degree, he worked as a travel photographer and graphic designer focusing on hiking trails in Turkey. Aaron is a certified paraglider pilot and has achieved numerous instructional ratings licenses as a skydiver. He can’t wait to experience the Middle East from the unique perspective the Abraham Path offers and to contribute to helping others discover it as well.

Jessica’s deepest roots are in the Middle East. With seven countries in the past three family generations, she is passionate about identity, culture, and cultivating understanding. After completing her BA in Political Science and a minor in Chemistry at the University of Florida, Jessica worked in international exchanges, focusing on civic engagement in Boston. She completed her MA in Government, specializing in Security Studies, as a Rotary Scholar in the Middle East. In Jerusalem, she discovered the Abraham Path. Jessica believes in the power of walking to connect—internally and externally-- and the values of hospitality, humility, and listening.
Trail Research Consultant
Shay Rabineau initially became interested in the Middle East while working for a Holy Land tour operator, and eventually began taking long-distance hikes as an independent traveler. That led him to begin studying the modern Middle East full-time as a graduate student. In 2013 he received his Ph.D. from the Department of Near Eastern and Judaic Studies at Brandeis University. As the Trail Research Consultant, he hopes to further explore the region along its unpaved footpaths, and to enable others to do the same.
Chief Financial Officer
Lis has worked as the financial controller for a nonprofit development agency in the UK and a nonprofit arts organization in the US. She spent three years working in the South of France, where she implemented all of the financial systems for an Internet start-up company. She has also worked as a senior financial analyst in large corporate environments for companies in various industries, including insurance (Aviva) and engineering (Rolls-Royce). Lis is a member of an internationally recognized accounting organization, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and holds a business degree from City University Business School, London.
